#1 CHIMNEY & FLUE CLEANER IS BACK!: Trusted for over 35 years, and independently tested and proven to work. Soot-Loose makes cleaning your chimney or flue quick and easy, based on a non-flammable, non-hazardous, non-corrosive organic solvent which travels up the chimney or flue and dissolves the tar, soot and creosote that has accumulated over time. Soot-loose is a non-toxic organic solvent that is completely safe for both you and the environment.
HOW DOES IT WORK: The active ingredients have been suspended in a carrier, and when you place the sachet onto the hot coals, the heat splits open the sachet, and releases the active ingredients. These active ingredients travel slowly up the flue or chimney and go to work breaking down the tar and creosote.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Once you have completed the treatment, the sachet and carrier may remain, depending on the heat of the coals, this is completely normal and the product has done its job. If there was not a large build-up, it will breakdown and travel out of the top of the flue or chimney, if there was a large build-up, once it starts to break down it may fall back into the fire place or on top of the baffle plate. Simply remove any fallen soot with a dust pan & broom.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE IT: While your heating unit or fire place is in constant use, we recommend you apply Soot-Loose monthly, use more often if the timber is not seasoned well or is a soft timber. Regular use will help to prevent the build-up of tar, creosote and soot, and will reduce your risk of having a dangerous flue fire.
HOW TO USE: 1. Make a hot fire and allow it to die down to hot coals 2. Adjust unit, if possible, so airflow is travelling up the flue slowly 3. Place sealed sachet of Soot-Loose on the hot coals, after approx. 15-20 minutes, the process is complete 4. Remove any loose soot that has fallen down from above the baffle plate before restarting the fire.
